ARCHERY returns to Commonwealth Games Lausanne – 23 November 2006   FITA Council was informed during its Council meeting on the 18th November that the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Games Federation has accepted the request from the Indian Organising Committee to add Archery to the program. 17 sports will now be on the program of the Games.   On the 15th November the FITA Secretary General, Tom Dielen and Anil Kamineni, Secretary General of the Indian Archery Association, made a presentation to the Sports Committee of the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur committing FITA’s support to this event. Both Compound and Recurve will be included in these Games.   FITA will assist the Commonwealth countries in the preparation of the Commonwealth Games and a scholarship project similar to the Viva America Program will be launched in connection with the 2008 World Junior Championships in New Delhi.   The FITA President, Dr Ugur Erdener, stated: “We thank on behalf of the athletes that will be given a chance to compete in this very important multi sport event the Commonwealth Games Federation for the confidence shown in Archery. The Archers from the Commonwealth now have 4 years to prepare to show the very best in New Delhi.
