23 November 2009 - Indoor E-mail Competition has started

Indoor E-mail Competition: second round! Lausanne - 15 December 2009
Over 200 archers from 27 countries and from 65 different clubs took part in the first round. It is now time to shoot the second round!   The indoor E-Mail Competition, organised by the Archery Club ILVES from Estonia, is a wonderful opportunity to compare your results with archers from all over the world. This competition is meant for all recurve and compound archers. Shoot a round at 18 metres and send your result by e-mail to ilvescup@hotmail.com before the deadline. Results from elite archers and club-level archers are more than welcome.   Over 200 archers from 27 countries and from 65 different clubs took part in the first round. Although it was not mandatory to be a national team member, there were many elite archers taking part. Nonetheless the results were not so predictable. Many young archers surprised with their high scores, some of them went even leading: 17-year-old Zoe GOEBBELS from Belgium in Recurve Women, 15-year-old Peter SIGIL from Denmark in Compound Men and 15-year-old Ida B. FRANDSEN from Denmark in Compound Women. The Recurve Men was the only division where youth did not beat more experienced archers. Antti TEKONIEMI from Finland is leading in this division.
There was a lot of positive feedback about the format of this competition! Archers from Serbia, for example, wrote that they do not have many possibilities to compete and compare their results. For this reason they decided to enjoy this opportunity, even though they shoot with wooden arrows. Some para-archers also compete. Some participants had started archery very recently, and is some cases, even families took part. We appreciate the enthousiasm from the archery club in Riga - they sent results of 55 archers! Is there any club who could beat that?
It's not too late for archers who did not take part in the first round but would still like to participate! The second round of this competition lasts until 20 December.   You have 5 days left to send in your score for the second round!   There is no entry fee and no written proof of the score is required. However participants must follow the FITA rules and the principles of fair-play. More info on this competition and the results of the first round on www.archery.ee.

Frequently asked questions:
Where can I shoot this competition, do I have to come to Estonia?
No, you do not have to come to Estonia. You can score an 18 metres round in your regular practice venue or in an official competition. No matter where you live, your result is welcome.
When do I have to shoot this competition? There are three rounds that last two weeks each—during that time you have to shoot and send the results by e-mail. 1st round: 16-29 November 2009 2nd round: 7-20 December 2009 3rd round: 18-31 January 2010
How can I submit my score? You have to send an e-mail to ilvescup@hotmail.com before the end of each round, with the following information: • Name • Division (recurve men/recurve women/compound men/compound women) • Result (30 + 30 arrows separately) • Name of archery club • Country • Year of birth
How can I get more information and where can I see the results? More information about the competition is available on the webpage www.archery.ee. The results will be also available on that page after the end of the 1st round. If you still have some questions, do not hesitate to send an e-mail to ilvescup@hotmail.com.
I do not belong to a National Team. Can I still take part in this international competition? Of course! Although there are many National Teams taking part, there are also plenty of club level archers and even archers shooting on beginner level. So do not hesitate to send in your score. The number of archers per country is not limited.

Can I still participate if I have missed one of these three rounds? Yes, you can. I would even say: "you should". You should use this opportunity, because as you will see from the rules on www.archery.ee, the final ranking will be based on the sum of each archer's best two rounds.
Do not hesitate to forward this information to all the archers and archery clubs you may know! Good luck and we are waiting for your e-mails!   Siret LUIK, on behalf of the organisers Edited by FITA Communication
