U.S. Olympic, Paralympic Team Trials this week in Chula Vista

The second nomination shoot for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for archery, as well as the U.S. Paralympic Team Trials for archery, will take place this week at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, USA. These events kick off on Tuesday, 24 April 2012 with the first day of scoring for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, which carries points over from the first nomination shoot for each of the sixteen women and sixteen men who are competing. At each of the three nomination shoots, points are cumulative and increasing point values are applied, meaning that it is still anyone's game, with lots of points up for grabs this week on a very competitive field. On Thursday, the field will be narrowed to the top eight archers per gender, who will continue to compete for two additional days this week, and will then travel to the third and final nomination shoot, on 1-2 June in Colorado Springs, where the three men and three women who make up the U.S. Olympic Team for archery will be selected. The Paralympic Team Trials for archery will consist of a single nomination shoot, taking place on 25-28 April. Watch for the event coverage of the Paralympic event beginning on 25 April, in which spots in several different categories are up for nomination. Many of the country's top Paralympic hopefuls are currently onsite in Chula Vista preparing for the competition. USA Archery will have live coverage of both events via Twitter and Facebook.
